When a container comes out of shipping service, it may need a little TLC.  Containers are exposed to salt air, stacked on container vessels, handled countless times, loaded with forklifts, etc.  All this handling/moving about will cause wear & tear.  This will typically show up in the way of dents, dings, surface rust, etc.  A great way to take care of these cosmetic imperfections, is to refurbish the container.  Minor dents/dings are usually left as they are, since it doesn’t impact the structure of a container.  However, the entire exterior will be prepped for a new coat of paint.  Any areas of chipped paint or rust are sanded or ground down with a wire wheel.  The shipping line decals and markings are also removed.  From there, the container is pressure washed to remove any remaining dirt or dust.  Once the container dries, a coat of marine grade paint is applied via a spray gun to the exterior.  The doors are also inspected to make sure the gasket is intact and the locking rods/handles function properly, to ensure the doors open/close properly.
