The flooring in most ISO cargo shipping containers is typically a 1 1/8-inch thick marine grade plywood. These floors are used because they do have a lot to offer. They offer stable flooring that’s strong and useful for just about any storage application. Being marine grade they don’t suffer from problems with wetness like other plywood floorings would as they have to be built to withstand moisture on cargo ships. That being said, it’s not the most glamorous flooring available and is rather utilitarian when it comes to the design of a container.

Flooring modifications are available for any cargo container to make it best suit your purpose. Some of the available options include Rhino lining®, vinyl flooring, rubber flooring, or a steel overlay. Each of these options offers its own strengths and weaknesses. Picking the right flooring for your container can depend on a few factors, such as budget, the purpose of space, and preference.
